The story

The year is 1578. Certain shipments bound for Santa Eulalia monastery are raising concern among ecclesiastical authorities. The Franciscan Order decides to investigate discreetly, sending Fray Jerónimo de Almorox under the guise of a scholar of the Order's musical heritage.

A mission behind another identity

His real task is to discover what is happening at Santa Eulalia without disrupting monastery life. But the investigation into the shipments reveals a far older mystery.

Fiction grounded in historical context

The adventure draws on real places, dates, people and circumstances to create a believable fictional story. It is not presented as an exact historical reconstruction or documentary source.

Every room keeps memories. Every object holds a story. Every document can change everything.

Investigation is the gameplay

Totana 1578 is not driven by speed or combat. Players advance by building knowledge: exploring, detecting contradictions, interpreting documents and connecting evidence until coherent hypotheses emerge.

The monastery is the board

Santa Eulalia is more than a backdrop. Its rooms, objects, documents, inhabitants and events form a network of relationships the player must understand. Some answers lie inside the monastery; others require reconstructing events beyond its walls.

Designed for everyone

Accessibility from the outset

Accessibility is not an afterthought. Totana 1578 is conceived from the beginning so that blind or visually impaired players, deaf or hard-of-hearing players, and other players can share the same process of investigation and discovery.

VCS 6.0 integrated

The game uses VCS —Vis Caeca Soni— version 6.0, with orientation improvements adapted to its isometric environment, alongside contextual audio linked to spaces, events and narrative states.

A project whose core is already built

Totana 1578 is in an advanced stage of technical development. The mission engine, narrative systems, investigation mechanics, minigames and core game logic are already implemented and used in day-to-day development.
